Things to remember for choosing laptops.

Having the right laptop accessories available can make life much easier while traveling. Chances are you’ll be convinced by a salesperson intent on selling you a huge machine, with flashy features, using jargon like “WLAN”, “DDR2-667 SO-Dimm Memory”, SATA, plus they’ll no doubt promise the notebook will even make you coffee.

It means you don’t have to rely on outside sources for gear and you stay productive. If you’re going to be typing documents, updating spreadsheets and checking e-mail, you’re not going to need a R20 000 machine. However, if you want your laptop to replace your desktop, you’re probably going to want to look at a high-end machine with lots of multimedia functionality.

When travel and have a lot to meet business partners and clients;

  • it should be lightweight and thin for easy carrying.
  • wide screen with high resolution and off course with digital Dolby surround sound for perfect viewing on my business presentation.
  • the battery should be environmentally friendly with 24 hours life span at least 12 hours will be ok.
  • universal multi convertible AC power supply adapter so that I wont have to worry plug-in it to any current source specially when traveling to different countries.
  • last thing will be software compatible friendly with a plug and play hardware capability. So that I don’t have to become a tech guy just to do all those installations and configuration stuffs.

Okay, one thing always think is about maintenance. The way to keep your laptop in good working order is to only load the applications you will be need in order to help you run your business. Because, I have seen laptops that have become unusable because the owners have loaded applications they found on the web or from CD’s that came with computer magazines. Only loading the applications you will need for your business will help keep you productive and will also lower your support costs.
